Bozrah Farmers Market

Friends of Maples Farm Park

History

Maples Farm Park was purchased by the Town of Bozrah back in April 2007.  The Town of Bozrah acquired the nineteenth century house at 45 Bozrah Street also known as Maples Farm, along with 32 acres of open land.

The Board of Selectmen received a Historic Preservation Technical Assistance Grant, and the grant funded in part a study by the CT Trust for Historic Preservation to study and evaluate the property and future potential uses for the house and the grounds.  Maples Farm Park Development Committee met for a year that coincided with the CT Trust Grant.

The Maples Farm Development Committee made recommendations to the Board of Selectmen in January of 2009, after which the group was dis-banned. The Committee completed it's task assigned by the Board of Selectmen, and the Committe submitted it's findings to the Board of Selectmen in a letter of recommendations for the use of Maples Farm Park after the completion of a CT Trust for Historic Preservation Study on the property in 2008. Friends of Maples Farm Park was created in January 2009 to move forward and plan fundraisers & policy for the use of Maples Farm Park.

There is a subcommittee under the Friends of Maples Farm Park which is the Bozrah Farmers Market Committee.  The Friends of Maples Farm Park have been hard at work planning for this years upcoming Market. This has been made possible in thanks to a CT Department of Agriculture, AG Viability Grant in the amount of $35,000.

This is just the first steps in a bigger plan to bring Maples Farm Park and the Homestead back to life for the greater good of the residents and surrounding community. The Town is also waiting to hear if it will receive a CT DEP trails grant and a CT STEAP grant it has applied for to further the efforts.

Maples Farm Grounds

A big thank you to Seymour Adelman for donating the materials and time to create the Maples Farm Parking lot for the Farmers Market in 2009 it looks great!

In 2009 the work was complete at Maples Farm Park on the old stonewalls. Due in part to a State of CT Ag Viability Grant the Park's Stonewalls got a facelift in time for the start of the Farmers Market in July. A big thanks to Ray Baker and his crew for all their hard work! The wall looks great, stop by and take a look for yourself.
